Fox Classics should consider acquiring such classic 1950s TV shows as CIRCUS BOY (starring Mickey Braddock/Dolenz ...later of The Monkees), CASEY JONES (Alan Hale...later in Gilligan's Island) and IVANHOE (starring Roger Moore). All are in syndication from Sony. Other classics I'd like to see again are The Adventures Of Rin Tin Tin, Jet Jackson and Walt Disney Presents (aka "Disneyland" and "The Wonderful World Of Disney").

    Hi Colin
I remember these tv series in re-runs in the 1960's. One thing they had in common (with most shows of the era) were very memorable opening themes/songs.
For the uninitiated heres the opening song for Ivanhoe:

Hi Colin. I remember all those shows,Like Michael,as re-runs in the 60's .They were standard(and very welcome),after school fare, along with Annie Oakley, The 3 Stooges, Robin Hood(Richard Greene ) and others.
Your chances of seeing them on Fox Classics or anywhere other than the Internet or buying them is remote. They all would fall under 'kiddie shows',these days, though, like you ,I would love to see them screened again.Your first choice of 77 Sunset Strip and others of it's production values and prestige is worth pursuing though .I mentioned Hawaiian Eye.In the past ,we have suggested others from the 50's like 'Have Gun will Travel', 'Rawhide',' M Squad' 'Alfred Hitchcock Presents',' The Twilight Zone',' Wagon Train' 'The Jack Benny Program' The Red Skelton show' 'Wanted Dead or Alive' The Dobie Gillis Show' etc.....Most of these I'm sure would stand up now, providing they have been 'digitalized' for D.V.D. Cheers Jeff

Maybe they are considered "kiddie" shows....but what's wrong with that? We're all kids at heart.

I long for more "wholesome" fare....as I'm apalled by current shows like "Family Guy","Two and a Half Men" etc. which are nothing but complete garbage.

Give me Annie Oakley, The Range Rider, The Lone Ranger, Jungle Jim etc. any day. These were entertaining shows....with so much action & fun packed into 25 minutes.

Hi Colin, I would like to add Walt Disney's 'Zorro' and the wonderful 'Scarecrow of Romney Marsh' to your list. 'Scarecrow' was more of a three part Disneyland special more so than a series but I would love to see it again. Patrick McGoohan in the title role was superb!
A have read a few stories about Clayton Moore being an absolute class act, a real hero for kids to look up to!
I agree about some of the shows of today, vulgarity masquerading as comedy.

    Hi All.
Thought I throw my 2bob's worth in. Some that come to mind more '60's though. 'Green Hornet' 'Randall and Hopkirk-Deceased' 'It's About Time'(with Joe.E.Ross and Imogene Coco) and 1950's 'Sheena Queen of the Jungle' with the beautiful Irish McKenna. Haven't seen 'Rin Tin Tin' since I was a kid, we all remember Sgt.Biff O'Hara(Joe Sawyer) was quite surprised when looking him up on Imdb he was only in 15 Episodes/out of 163, wow! he left such an impression on me I would of put $$$ on him to have been in them all.
    cheers saratoga

Don't believe everyting you rread in IMDB. Joe Sawyer was in a lot more than 15 episodes of RIN TIN TIN. I know...I have the complete series.

No chance of seeing IT'S ABOUT TIME again. It's not in syndication (not enough episodes).

SHEENA is in the public domain.....there are some "cheapie" DVDs out.

"The Sarecrow of Romney Marsh" (aka "Dr Syn") was released on DVD in the Walt Disney Treasures series. It's still available.

    Hi Colin
Yes, I had it on order from Amazon a couple of years ago but Disney pressed less copies on dvd than originally planned and many people (including myself) missed out.
This particular dvd is going for big $$ on ebay. When I last checked, a new copy was selling for between $150-$294 USD. Cheers -- MichaelD

    Hi Colin.
If you re-read my post you'll see I AGREE with you.The 'kiddie show' tag referred mainly to their production values.I like all the old shows, particularly as I can watch them without being offended. We have discussed in past posts the disgusting(and I'm no prude) rubbish passing for entertainment on T.V. today. The 'comedies' are by far the worst, though big budget hits like C.S.I. seem like an excuse for sometimes stomach turning gore that would make the old Hammer Horror movies look like,well......'Kiddie shows'. And don't start me on 'Music Videos'. cheers JEFF

I recorded all 32 episodes of CASEY JONES when it was on FX in 1997-1998. This channel was the predecessor of Fox Classics...and, in my opinion, had far better shows.

I also have the complete series of IT'S ABOUT TIME....from old 16mm film prints....color is "washed out" but they are watchable.
