Synopsis
A legendary gunfighter vows to end his days as he lived them, fighting, gambling, drinking and never backing down from a challenge.
From the writer and director of Maverick, comes Walter Hill’s version of the life of the famous Wild Bill Hickok. Jeff Bridges stars as the legend and portrays his mean yet high spirited personality. The film isn’t a smooth running story, yet it is told from the perception of Hickok’s friend Charley Prince, (John Hurt), who narrates the event’s of Hickok’s life whilst sitting next to his grave. Throughout the movie you see Hickok walking through the West encountering his fair share of gunfights.
Along the way he meets up with Ellen Barkin’s character, Calamity Jane who becomes his side kick for a short stint. Meeting legendary status see’s Hickok sign up for a quick spell with Buffalo Bill Cody’s travelling show. However this move see’s Hickok fall in love with Susannah Moore (Diane Lane), which eventually leads old Wild Bill to his fate in Deadwood, SD.
