Synopsis
Planet Spaceball's President Skroob sends Lord Dark Helmet to steal Planet Druidia's abundant supply of air to replenish their own, and only Lone Starr can stop them.
Once upon a time warp... in deep space, where storylines are scrawled across glowing star fields, the struggle between the nice and the rotten goes on.
CHAPTER ELEVEN: THE SPACEBALLS GROW DESPERATE
The evil leaders of the planet Spaceball, having foolishly squandered their precious atmosphere, have devised a secret plan to take every breath of air away from their peaceful neighbor, the planet Druidia. President Skroob (Mel Brooks), the wily Spaceball ruler, has tele-walled orders to the flagship of his star fleet, under the command of Lord Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis), to abduct Her Spoiled Highness, Princess Vespa (Daphne Zuniga).
But Skroob hasn’t reckoned with space bum-for-hire Lone Starr (Bill Pullman); his co-pilot, Barf (John Candy), the hairball of "Spaceballs;" Dot Matrix (Joan Rivers), the plucky Druish droid; and the power of the Schwartz -- may it always be with you, you wouldn’t be sorry.
The stage is set for a cataclysmic clash only one living human could bring to the screen.
Spell Skroob backwards.
That’s close enough.
Having shot the definitive western in the back with "Blazing Saddles", stormed the castle of "Young Frankenstein", plumbed the depths of "High Anxiety", and taken on the world of medieval spandex in "Robin Hood: Men in Tights", MEL BROOKS is crossing mankind’s ultimate frontier.
"Spaceballs" is produced and directed by Mel Brooks from a screenplay written by Brooks, Thomas Meehan and Ronny Graham. Playing a dual role in this cosmic comedy, Brooks is joined onscreen by stars JOHN CANDY, RICK MORANIS, BILL PULLMAN, DAPHNE ZUNIGA, and GEORGE WYNER. DICK VAN PATEN, MICHAEL WINSLOW, the voice of JOAN RIVERS, and LORENE YARNELL are prominently featured among the "Spaceballs" cast.
