Biography

MEG RYAN claimed the attention of film audiences and the industry alike in 1986 with her gem-like cameo in the Paramount hit, "Top Gun." Audiences were next given a more generous look in Steven Spielberg’s "Innerspace" which she starred opposite Dennis Quaid and Martin Short. Since then, Ryan has been sought after to star in films opposite some of Hollywood’s hottest actors.

She starred in th~ critically acclaimed independent feature, "Promised Land," developed at the Sundance Institute and executive produced by Robert Redford. Her performance as a tough, desperate drifter won her a Best Actress Award in Europe and a nomination for Best Actress from the I.F.P. Ryan followed "Promised Land" with "D.O.A.," a remake of the classic film noir that paired her again with Quaid and also starred with Mark Harmon and Sean Connery in "The Presidio."

An American actress who got her start on the television sit com As the World Turns in 1982, and recieved many supporting roles in the early 1980's until she was chosen by Rob Reiner to star alongside Billy Crystal in  When Harry Met Sally... (1989). From this role she gained international recognition as well as  a Golden Globe nomination and rocketed her into leading lady roles in romantic comedies such as Sleepless in Seattle (1993), French Kiss (1995), Addicted to Love (1997), and You've Got Mail (1998).

She has also been accliamed for her more drama based roles in films such as When a Man Loves a Woman (1994), Courage Under Fire (1996), and City of Angels (1998).
