Biography

A British Australian actor, Hugo Weaving is an icon of Australian cinema, having gained success in Australian films such as Yahoo Serious comedy Reckless Kelly (1993) and screen classic The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994) as well as appearing in the Classic Australian miniseries Bodyline (1984).

From his early roles he gained a large amount of exposure and in 1999 he was cast as Agent Smith in the Wachowski brothers Blockbuster The Matrix as well as its two sequels The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions (2003).

From his initial Matrix success, he earned the role of Elrond in Peter Jackson's three-film adaptation of The Lord of the Rings trilogy as well as the starring role in Wachowski brothers film V for Vendetta (2006) alongside Natalie Portman.
