Biography

Born John Stephen Goodman, he is best known for his role as the dependable yet humorous husband Dan Conner on long running sit-com Roseanne. He has over 120 screen credits to his name and won a Golden Globe for his role in Roseanne in 1993. He was born in Affton, Missouri and discovered his dramatic roots while attending college at Southwest Missouri State University whilst on a football scholarship. After an injury he decided to focus on his drama classes and studied alongside fellow veteran actors Kathleen Turner and Tess Harper.

Having earned his place in the spotlight spending the better part of a decade on Roseanne alongside comedian Roseanne Barr/Arnold, he has also been in a great number of films and took over from John Belushi as Dan Aykroyd's partner in the popular Blues Brothers Band and appeared in the sequel film Blues Brothers 2000. Goodman is also well known for his roles in the Coen Brothers movies, often being a standout character, and has appeared in Raising Arizona (1987), Barton Fink (1991), The Big Lebowski (1998), and O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000).

He has also lended his voice to an extensive range of animated features, the most notable of these is the Pixar classic Monsters Inc (2001).
