Biography

A British actress, comedian and screenwriter, Emma Thompson is a highly respected and recognised woman with two Academy Awards, one for Best Actress in the film Howards End (1992) and one for Best Screenplay for the 1995 film version of Sense and Sensibility. She also has been nominated for countless other performances and has appeared in over 30 films and a number of television shows.

Some of her more notable film credits include Howards End (1992), The Remains of the Day (1993), In the Name of the Father (1993), Sense and Sensibility (1995), Love Actually (2003), Stranger than Fiction (2006), and the Nanny McPhee franchise of children’s films. She has also made appearances in 3 of the hugely successful Harry Potter films as the character Professor Sybill Trelawney.
