Biography

An English screen and theatre actor, Paul Scofield was best known for his classical stage performances appearing in many performances presented by the likes of the Royal National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Some of his more notable screen appearances include The Train (1964), A Man for All Seasons (1966), King Lear (1971), Quiz Show (1994), and The Crucible (1996).

Scofield recieved critical acclaim for his role as Sir Thomas More in A Man for All Seasons winning 8 awards for best actor including an Academy Award, Golden Globe, and BAFTA. He was also nominated for an Academy Award for his role of Mark Van Doren in the 1994 movie Quiz Show.
