Biography

An American actor, singer and dancer from a vaudeville family, Donald O'Connor was very successful during the 1940's for his appearances in the studio musicals of the Era. He was also quite well known as the recurring co-star in the Francis series of films alongside Francis the Talking Mule. His credits in this series include Francis (1950), Francis Goes to the Races (1951), Francis Goes to West Point (1952), Francis Covers the Big Town (1953), Francis Joins the WACS (1954), and Francis in the Navy (1955).

He is also well known for his roles in Beau Geste (1939), Sing You Sinners (1938), There's No Business Like Show Business (1954), Anything Goes (1956), as well as appearing as himself in That's Entertainment! (1974) and his appearances in the newer films Toys (1992) and Out to Sea (1997).

His most famous performance however would see him star as Cosmo Brown alongside Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds in the Musical Comedy Singin' in the Rain (1952), a role that would see him win the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Actor - Musical/Comedy.
