Biography

An American actor with a long career on stage, screen and television, Claude Atkins was best known for his television role as Sheriff Lobo in the 1970s TV series B. J. and the Bear. During his career spanning 41 years, he appeared in over 220 films and television series, often playing the clever (or less than clever) tough guy, on the side of good or bad, in movies and television.

Some of his more notable screen appearances include From Here to Eternity (1953), The Caine Mutiny (1954), The Devil's Brigade (1968), Inherit the Wind (1960), and Comanche Station (1960).
