Part I
JAMES CLAVELL’S NOBLE HOUSE: “Part One” – Pierce Brosnan, Deborah Raffin and Ben Masters headline an all star international cast in this eight hour mini-series based on Clavell’s blockbuster novel about romance, intrigue and international power struggles in contemporary Hong Kong. John Houseman, Denholm Elliot, Gordon Jackson, Julia Nickson and John Rhys-Davies also star. The drama opens as Ian Dunross (Brosnan) become “Tai-Pan” (leader) of Struan and Company – The Noble House – Hong Kong’s most powerful trading house. Three years pass, and Struan’s is beset with financial problems. Dunross begins negotiations with American corporate raider Linc Bartlett (Masters) and Casey Tcholok (Raffin), his beautiful second in command. But Dunross soon discovers Bartlett is ploting to take control of Struan’s with the help of Dunross’ bitter rival Quillan Gornt (Rhys-Davies). John Chen (Steven Leigh) is kidnapped after stealing a half coin from his family – a precious coin granting its owner favour from the Noble House.

Part II
JAMES CLAVELL’S NOBLE HOUSE: “Part Two” – In a tense stand off at Hong Kong stock exchange, Ian Dunross (Pierce Brosnan) watches helplessly as his rival Qullian Gornt (Rhy-Davies) destroys the stock of Struan’s. Bitter rivalries are temporarily forgotten as a fire destroys the Floating Dragon restaurant in Hong Kong harbour, with Dunross, Linc Bartlett (Ben Masters), Casey Tcholok (Deborah Raffin), Gornt and Orlanda Ramos (Julia Nickson) on board. The evil Four Finger Wu (Khigh Dhiegh) finds John Chen’s kidnappers and the precious half-coin, giving him power over the noble house.

Part III
JAMES CLAVELL’S NOBLE HOUSE: “Part Three” – Private matters begin to complicate business dealings as Bartlett (Ben Masters) becomes more deeply involved with Orlanda Ramos (Julia Nickson) and Casey appears on the verge of falling in love with Ian Dunross (Pierce Brosnan). As a result, Casey, who is furious with Bartlett’s double-dealing, threatens to resign. Dunross exhausts all possibilities to save the Noble House but niether his friend Lando Mata (Damien Thomas) nor the Bank of China will bail him out. Four Finger Wu (Khigh Dhiegh) presents him with the ancient Half-Coin and demands that Dunross let him use the Noble House ships to transport opium.

Part IV
JAMES CLAVELL’S NOBLE HOUSE: “Part Four” – The intense rivalry between Dunross (Pierce Broasnan) and Quillan Gornt (John Rhys-Davies) continues at the race track when Gornt’s jockey purposly knocks Dunross’ rider from his hourse. In a desperate bid to save his failing company, Dunross goes to mainland China where an old friend offers to help on the condition Brian Kwok (Kay Tong Lim), a communist spy, is returned to China. But everyones plans are violently disrupted when a landslide hits a residential area of Hong Kong.
